Filmed in 2007, shortly before Salon Gloria closed forever: After the rough forward wash by the girl apprentice ("Lehrmädchen"), the main stylist (impeccably groomed, short hair, glasses, classic smock) steps in. In the old-school hierarchy of German hairdressing training, the apprentice must stand by and watch closely to learn – back then, Lehrmädchen were expected to observe a lot at first and only handle minor tasks to maintain strict order. Precise roller setting with traditional curlers follows, then the client is placed under the decades-old vintage hood dryer. Finally, brisk comb-out and finishing styling. Straightforward, no-frills technique in a pre-1970s Berlin salon inherited by Gloria Romeike in 1972.
