Video Submission Guide

Step 1: Prepare Your Video

  • Length & Style: Videos should be full-length and unedited – we handle editing in our studio. Include a short introduction at the start (e.g. setting the scene or greeting) and a conclusion at the end (e.g. final look or wrap-up). For your first attempt, we recommend a styling or shampoo & styling scene at home. If it doesn't work out, no costs are incurred. In a second step, you can progress to a salon scene.
  • Legal Requirements: Ensure all participants are adults (18+) and have consented to recording and sharing. No copyrighted music or brands without permission.

Step 2: Submit Your Video

  • Upload to Dropbox: Do not try to send via email or messenger – files are too large. When you're ready, email us at mail@hairmedia.de for the Dropbox upload link.
  • What to Include in the Email:
    • Your name and contact info.
    • Video description (procedure, location, year).
    • Confirmation of consent and rights (you own the video and grant us permission to sell it).
    • Any preferences (e.g. share of revenue – see Jobs page for details).

Step 3: Review & Offer

We will make a price offer after reviewing the material. We reimburse all salon costs in full upon receipt of the invoice. Without your approval, nothing will be published. For future submissions, you can opt for revenue share instead of a fixed price and become a vendor. This is explained here: https://hairmedia.de/pages/vendor-faq

Tips for Successful Submissions

  • Vintage Feel: Use period-appropriate props, clothing, and techniques to evoke nostalgia.
  • Quality Check: Test audio (clear sounds like water or dryer) and lighting (avoid shadows).
  • Originality: Focus on unique angles or rare techniques – that's what our community loves.
  • Benefits: Accepted contributors earn fair payment for every accepted video (rates depend on length, quality, and exclusivity). Flexible – contribute as much or as little as you like.

Example Videos

To help you understand what we're looking for, here are some example videos (not our content, but similar style):

These examples illustrate the kind of natural, unedited footage we appreciate – focus on the procedure, vintage feel, and clear audio/visuals.
